This is a description of each step taken to produce your DVD. From experience, it pays to follow a step-by-step path, and helps us to deliver to you the completed project that best captures your requirements.Dream Engine works consultatively and collaboratively with our clients. We provide regular opportunities to you to contribute feedback, as well as a formal sign-off process, will help to ensure that your needs are clearly understood and met.
1. Pre- Production
This involves all of the steps in planning and preparing your DVD Production.
1.1 Initial Meeting
This is an opportunity for us to learn more about you and your business, and to to make a detailed assessment of your multimedia communication needs.
• An opportunity for us to present examples of our work.
• A chance to discuss, in general terms, an approach to assist your business to communicate to its target market more effectively.
1.2 The Brief
In order for Dream Engine to prepare a proposal and quote, we request that you complete our Client Ideas Sheet – This helps us to learn: the message you wish to communicate, information about your target market, the purpose of the project, the main points you wish to communicate, the benefits of your product or service, what marketing or related material you currently have e.g. video, brochures, etc.
1.3 The Proposal and Quote
Based on the information we gather from you, Dream Engine will prepare a Proposal and a Budget. The Proposal outlines our understanding of your requirements, as well as the approach we would take to deliver a DVD production that best realises those requirements.
1.4 The Budget
A fixed quote detailing what the project would cost. The Budget is broken down into subsections to show how the funds are allocated. At this stage, In order to proceed with the project, theProposal and Budget will need to be agreed to and signed-off by the client.Normally held within two weeks of the initial meeting, we will work through the Brief Questionaire that you have submitted to us allowing us to clarify/finalise your requirements.
1.5 The Concept
This is a short document of 1 to 2 paragraphs that describes the overarching idea of the project, and its broad specifications.
• Concept Feedback
This is an opportunity for you to make alterations or amendments to the Concept.
• Concept Sign-off
This is your written indication to us that we are agreed on the overarching idea of the project, and this is your direction to us to proceed to the next stage.
1.6 The Treatment
This is a one to two page document produced by us that fleshes out the Concept. It describes, in a general sense, the order of action that will occur in the DVD Production, the ideas that will be presented, and the people that will appear.
• Treatment Feedback
This is an opportunity for you to make alterations or amendments to the Treatment.
1.7 Treatment Sign-off
This is your written confirmation to us that you are in agreement with the general order of action and ideas, and this is also your instruction to us to proceed to the next stage.
1.8 The Talent
All of the people collectively appearing in the production are colloquially referred to as ‘the Talent’. They may include, amongst others, a presenter, a voice-over artist, actors, documentary subjects/interviewees, and/or members of your staff. If auditions are to be held, we require you to be present at the Casting, where Talent is interviewed, tested and selected
This is your indication to us that you have agreed on the Talent selection to appear in the Production. In addition, you would need to provide us with Release Forms signed by any staff and associates of your organisation who will appear in the DVD.
1.9 Production Schedule
All recording events to occur in the production process e.g. filming and voiceover recording are detailed by us in a written Schedule.
• Production Schedule Sign-off
This is your written confirmation to us that you are satisfied with the Schedule, and will facilitate relevant staff members appearing in the video, premises etc available to us for filming on that day.
2.0 Production
This involves all of the processes that occur during the actual filming itself. A client representative will be invited to be present during production to observe the process, as well as to provide a guide or sounding board for onsite decisions relating to issues such as pronunciation, or terminology specific to your industry.
3.0 PostProduction
This involves all of the processes that occur after completion of filming e.g. editing, title design, sound mix etc.
3.1 The Rough Cut
Once we have edited the DVD Production to draft stage we invite you into the edit suite to view the work and provide feedback. At this stage the Production is in a form close to completion, minus effects, titles and colour grading.
3.2 Fine Cut
You will be invited to the edit suite while the finishing touches are put on the video.
• Final Cut Sign-off
Your indication to us that we are agreed on the final cut of the DVD Production, and your direction to us to proceed to the next stage.
3.3 Artwork and Packaging
You will be required to submit any necessary directions/specifications regarding the artwork and packaging within 5 working days following final cut sign-off.
• Artwork and Packaging Feedback
This is an opportunity for you to make alterations or amendments to The Artwork and Packaging.
• Artwork and Packaging Sign-off
This is your written confirmation to us that you have agreed to the artwork and packaging design and specifications supplied by Dream Engine.
3.4 Final Master Delivery
The Final Master of your DVD Production is delivered to you in the agreed format e.g. DVD, CD-ROM etc.
• Final Master Sign-off
This is your written confirmation to us that you have agreed on the Final Master.
3.5 DVD Duplication Delivery
Your opportunity to request copies of your project. As per the contract, this item is signed-off as an additional item.
