Sam was unsatisfied with the formulaic, face-to-camera videos that he saw being used by others in his online market. Having his clients looking straight into the camera and tying to tell potential customers why they are great and why people need to use their products, just wasn’t an appealing option.
Instead of being natural and comfortable, they felt like “used car salesmen”.
While in Australia for a conference, Sam saw Ryan speaking about web video marketing. He approached Ryan after his talk to discuss web marketing and the videos he wanted for his clients. They were able to come up with a great idea to help Sam and his clients to advertise themselves and their businesses in an engaging, natural way.
Instead of using a sales-pitch style videos, Ryan would travel to the US and shoot documentary style videos. Instead of them telling the audience why they are so good, the video would show what they do and why they are so good at it.
Sam’s clients were interviewed to give their story and outline their products and philosophies in a much more relaxed and casual way. They were able to give the same passion and excitement about their product that they would have if the cameras and lights were turned off.
Clients of theirs would also be interviewed for the audience to relate to, and to give testimonials of Sam’s clients. They could give first hand accounts of how Sam’s clients had impacted their lives. Their powerful stories would allow the viewer to become emotionally connected to Sam’s clients and their products.
Over the course of Ryan’s 2 week USA trip, he travelled to 8 states and over two dozen cities. In this time, over 30 compelling marketing videos were shot. Each video would be an engaging and relatable story that would bring the same excitement and passion that Sam’s clients have to their audience.
