More Than a Place to Practise
Harwyn makes architect-designed, factory-built music pods for schools. They give students and teachers a dedicated place to practise, rehearse and learn.
But the value of the pods is not only practical. They are designed as places where musicians can focus, express themselves and connect. Harwyn asked Dream Engine to make a short film that would show the spaces clearly while also communicating what it feels like to make music inside them.

Plans, product photography and room details can explain dimensions, finishes and materials. They cannot show the moment when a group of musicians finds its rhythm.
The film needed to show what it feels like for students to play music together, and how Harwyn’s choices of light, materials and colour contribute to that experience.
The idea
The Moment Musicians Connect
Musicians know the moment. Someone looks up, meets another player’s eye and there is an unspoken understanding that the music is working.
We built the film around that moment of connection. The students and teacher are not simply demonstrating the room. Their concentration, glances and responses carry the story. The pod becomes the place where those moments can happen.
The approach
Letting the Pod Shape the Film
Harwyn’s design choices influenced how we filmed the pods. The light, materials and colour help create an environment where students and teachers can focus, express themselves and connect through music.
With no dialogue, the story had to be carried through point of view, performance and observation. We filmed from the students’ perspective, moving between the wider school setting, the pod’s interior and close performance coverage.
The film has a timeless, almost nostalgic feel. Its images and pace are designed to evoke the way it feels to learn, practise and find a connection through music. Wide shots make the product easy to understand, while closer moments draw us into the concentration and shared energy of the musicians.

The result
The Finished Film
The finished 71-second film shows what the pods look like, where they sit within the school and how students and teachers use them.
It also shows what Harwyn’s spaces make possible: focused practice, creative expression and the energy and connection that happen when musicians play together.
Through its images and rhythm, the film conveys what it feels like to make music together inside the pods.

We thought by trying to tell the story of what the music pod is in a video, it would really help schools understand what it’s all about. Dream Engine was able to visually unlock the potential of our product, helping to draw schools in and encouraging them to experience our pods firsthand.
