Dream Engine partnered with James Phillip Design to deliver a series of live cooking demonstrations for Fonterra’s Proud to be a Chef program. Broadcast live from Fonterra’s head office in Richmond, Melbourne, the sessions featured leading Melbourne chefs demonstrating recipes, sharing techniques and discussing their culinary experience with participants joining online.
As one of Australia’s longest-running culinary mentoring programs, Proud to be a Chef helps apprentice chefs develop their skills through education, mentoring and industry experience. The livestream allowed participants from across Australia to learn directly from experienced chefs without travelling to Melbourne, creating an engaging and interactive online learning experience.

The Challenge
Cooking demonstrations present unique challenges for live production. Chefs move constantly around the kitchen, multiple dishes are prepared simultaneously, and viewers need to clearly see both the chefs and the finer details of every technique being demonstrated.
Broadcasting the sessions live meant there was no opportunity to edit after the event. Every camera angle, transition and audio source needed to be managed in real time while maintaining a polished viewing experience for participants watching remotely.
Our Solution
Dream Engine delivered a three-camera live streaming production designed specifically for the demonstrations. Wide shots established the overall kitchen environment, while additional cameras captured close-up cooking techniques, ingredients and finished dishes, ensuring online viewers could easily follow every stage of the demonstrations.
Our Melbourne production team managed live vision switching throughout each broadcast, selecting the most appropriate camera angle as the chefs moved naturally around the kitchen. Professional audio ensured presenters remained clear despite the busy cooking environment, while the complete production was streamed live via the BigMarker platform.
Working alongside James Phillip Design, we managed all technical aspects of the broadcast so the presenters could focus entirely on engaging with participants and delivering the demonstrations.
