Creating a website video
Ronson Gears is a Melbourne-based company that manufactures machine components and gears for leading companies in industries such as aerospace, mining and agriculture. Our job was to capture what they do in dynamic, visual way for a home page video for their new website.
The company uses some very advanced, specific and high-end equipment. The purpose of the video was to showcase their capabilities, provide a window into their culture and approach, as well as help set a professional tone.
When we first visited the factory, as part of the planning process for the video, what was striking was how smooth and streamlined their production process is. So we incorporated the metaphor of a Symphony into the video: each element of the production process contributing and harmonising with the others.
Obviously, the choice of music was key in successfully realising this concept. We invested a few hours scouring music libraries, as well as testing out other tracks, until we found the perfect piece of music.
The music is carefully linked to the visuals, with the soundtrack and the images playing off each other. The overall effect is to convey a sense of order, strong systems, and a clear sense of purpose.
We shot the video in 4K – which basically has four times the number of pixels as HD. So it looks really sharp and clear when played at full resolution on a 4K monitor. It also helps to future-proof the video as we transition to 4k being the standard resolution for video.
The result is a video that tells the story of the production process – from the arrival of the raw materials to the factory, all of the processes they undergo to become gears, to the completed gears boxed up and ready for delivery.
