Avigilon Alta at Moonee Valley Park
Motorola Solutions asked us to show how Avigilon Alta works in an apartment building, from keyless entry to letting in visitors.
We filmed the three-minute customer story at Thomas Street Apartments in Moonee Valley Park. It shows Avigilon Alta cloud access control working with the Erin Resident app.
The challenge
Explaining the access system
The video needed to explain how Avigilon Alta and the Erin Resident app work together, then show what that means for someone using the building.
A resident encounters the technology at a door, an access reader or on their phone. Showing those familiar actions gave us a way to explain cloud access control through everyday situations, such as arriving home or letting in a visitor.
The interviews needed to cover the technology and the reasons for choosing it. The demonstrations showed the equipment used to enter the building.

Hearing from the project partners
The film includes interviews with Motorola Solutions, Erin Living Technologies, developer Hamton and a resident of Thomas Street Apartments.
Motorola Solutions introduces cloud access control and the scope for partners to build applications around it. Erin describes its search for a keyless access system and the support it received from Motorola during the integration.
Erin also discusses the problem of residents needing separate apps for different building amenities. Its aim was to bring those functions into a single app. Hamton explains why technology needs to be considered at the start of a development, while the resident talks about using the installed system day to day.
These interviews give prospective buyers an account of why the system was chosen, what the integration involved and how a resident uses it. You can find other examples in our technology video production work.
The action
Showing visitor access and keyless entry
Visitor access gave the film a familiar situation to explain: someone arrives downstairs and needs to reach the apartment they’re visiting.
The resident describes using the app to open the door when guests call from downstairs. They can then access the lift and travel to his floor. Footage of the entrance and intercom accompanies his account.
We also filmed close views of a phone and access reader to show keyless entry using the Erin Resident app. Viewers can see the interaction at the door while hearing how the two systems connect. The resident adds his own assessment: he finds the app easy to use and wouldn’t want to return to the old access method.
This is where filming on location helps a technology customer story. The building entrance, reader and phone are all part of the same example. A prospective buyer can follow how the product is used in an apartment building and relate it to their own property.
