At Dream Engine, we had the opportunity to work with Sam Bashiry, an Australian entrepreneur and the founder of Broadband Solutions, one of the country’s fastest-growing technology companies.

Sam wanted to share his journey: from his childhood in Iran and his time in an Australian detention centre to becoming one of the nation’s most inspiring business leaders.
The Brief
Sam approached Dream Engine to produce a personal, authentic documentary that would inspire others and strengthen his connection with his audience.
The video needed to go beyond business. It was about values, resilience, gratitude, and determination. Our challenge was to create a film that balanced emotion with professionalism while weaving Sam’s personal history into his entrepreneurial success.
Our Approach
We worked closely with Sam and the Broadband Solutions team to plan a shoot that reflected the key milestones in his story.
Filming took place across three meaningful locations:
- Broadband Solutions headquarters in South Melbourne, capturing the energy of the company today.
- Melbourne’s CBD, where Sam landed his first job and began building his career.
- Parkville Detention Centre, where he spent time as a refugee when he first arrived in Australia.
These locations provided a strong visual contrast, from the challenges of his past to the achievements of his present.
Through interviews, narration, and carefully composed cinematography, we crafted a narrative that highlighted Sam’s perseverance and Broadband Solutions’ growth as an extension of his story.
The Outcome
The finished video was released across Sam’s social channels and company platforms, where it received strong engagement and positive feedback.
It humanised the Broadband Solutions brand and positioned Sam as an authentic, purpose-driven leader whose story resonates with audiences far beyond the technology sector.
The video continues to be used in presentations, events, and media features, helping tell a story that is both personal and universal: overcoming adversity to build something meaningful.
